Hailing from Alabama, your favorite country rockers are back! The Red Clay Strays is set to release their new album "Grateful" this summer, and they've already marked the biggest tour of their careers (so far). Following their successful album "Made by These Moments" which came on the heels of their viral breakthrough with "Wondering Why", these fellas are set to keep their momentum all up. Three singles in, they've got all of us rockin' along their newest tunes "People Hatin'", "If I Didn't Know You", and "Demons in Your Choir" ahead of the LP's full release.
Formed as a success to a cover band in Alabama back in 2016, lead singer Brandon Coleman, bassist Andrew Bishop and guitarist Drew Nix regrouped to record original material. They later recruited John Hall, Zach Rishel, and Sevans Henderson to join the pack. In their early days, the band started performing in humble venues, and started gaining attention with their single "Good Godly Woman" (featured in Doctor Sleep).
All thanks thanks to crowdfunding efforts led by their manager Cody Payne, they were able to record their first studio LP "Moment of Truth". While the record wasn't as successful as expected, The Red Clay Strays kept going. Signing with Thirty Tigers in May 2023, they got booked for Lollapalooza and CMA Fest performances.
It was a big year for the band, and they kept stirring social media. Their song "Wondering Why" went viral in September, making the track a sleeper hit from their debut record. It entered the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, and later on made it to the Billboard Hot 100 - marking a first for the band. From then on, they kept the ball rolling with their country-rockin' masterpieces. With "Grateful" coming out this summer, they marked the start of the era in October last year with "People Hatin'".
While all of us patiently waits for the album's final rollout, and the start of the tour, let's take a look back at what The Red Clay Strays' songwriting is all about.
"Most of the time we're not setting out to write a worship song… or anything like that," Coleman told GRAMMY.com, after the release of their 2nd LP "Made by These Moments". "We don't want to be a Christian band or even a country band — we just want to make music, plain and simple."
You heard 'em loud and clear, it's good music, plain and simple. Explaining that they're out here not looking to preach, "we're just singing songs about our lives and people can listen if they want... I've had many people who aren't spiritual or religious come up to me and say that our music has gotten them to think and reevaluate how they go about their daily lives. That's all you can ask for if you're trying to inspire or help people with your music."
As the band gears up for the release of "Grateful", get ready for new tracks that's gonna speak to your heart. Don't miss out on The Grateful Tour by booking those tickets now!
